I learned a lot about value and painting techniques. I learned that there is no true one color. You mix and layer different colors to make a more value and dimension in your painting. Even though this is not my best painting, I like the background and the different mixture of colors. I need to work on my shading.
This assignment was pretty difficult to say the least. My architectural piece was the Bhutan Tigers Nest. I like working with clay, but we used techniques I have never used before. I don't have a picture because unfortunately my piece exploded in the kiln. From this project I learned a lot about backgrounds and foreground, middle ground, and background. I also learned a lot about architecture and all the different amazing architecture seen around the world.
I think this project was my favorite project so far. It allowed us to take our imaginations and run with them. Even though it took quite a long time, I liked the challenge. I think it made me realize how much patients you need to have to do art. I think I like all the repetition and pattern to my piece. I like seeing the final product. I wish I did some sort of time lapse to see my progress each day or week.
This project was something a lot different than what we have been doing in previous assignments. It was a little more graphic and comic-like than other pieces. I wanted the letters to represent something. They are earth, air, water, and fire. I noticed that some people went for letters they liked the shape of. I realize now that I like when my pieces have a meaning or reason behind them and this project helped me realize that.
In this artist trading card project I learned a lot about mistakes and how they can turn out to be better than what you expect. The right trading card is what I was planning on doing except it didn't turn out the way I pictured it. The left trading card I actually like better. It wasn't suppose to be a trading card, it was just to help me see the different lines in my thumb. I like the variation in shades. Even if it was a mistake, I think it showed me that not everything will turn out the way you expect it to turn out. This project was very interesting and I learned a lot about mistakes and end products.
